Spear-Woman Saturday: At the Siege

There have been many sieges of the cities East of the Sea since the Pagans came. Their hosts take the cities of Khalaran. Later, the hosts of Khalaran will return and attempt to reclaim those conquered cities.

And there is slaughter – before the walls of the cities as the defenders hold, in the streets when the walls are breached, across the desert when a starving, ragged army lifts the siege and the desperate defenders pour forth to strike them as they retreat.

But before the slaughter, the waiting.

They tell her that the word for ‘siege’ in the Pagan is the same as the word that means ‘seat.’

And Bayan has been doing much sitting before the walls of Tamiathis lately.

Man, I really need to remember to post these every week. I’m pretty sure I’m batting something like .150…

All of which is to say, over on the Emona Literary Services™ Substack blog, the latest Spear-Woman Saturday scene has gone live.
