I’ve recently watched Dredd, The Raid, and The Punisher: One Last Kill, all of which are basically about the hero either fighting all the way up or all the way down a sealed-off apartment full of bad guys.
Of course, Realmgard is a Fantasy world, so a tower is probably the closest thing conceptually to an apartment building.
“And here we are,” Matilda says. “Right at the top of the tower.”
“I am not wearing the right boots for this,” Amara notes, wincing as her fashionable but not particularly rugged boots pinch and squeeze her feet.
“And, look. There’s the bejewelled faience chicken Countess Philerma hired us to get back,” Tancred says, stepping forward towards the heap of miscellaneous plunder the bandits have piled in the topmost chamber of the old tower they’ve claimed as their hideout.
“Can you believe we made it all the way up to the top without any of the bad guys noticing?” Pela asks. “I mean, I can believe I made it. I’m small and quick. But you’re all big and… footstep-y.”
“Ugh,” Matilda groans. “And we were doing so well, too. Now we’re definitely going to have to fight our way out. And we’re, like, ninety-seven floors up!”
“Seventy-three,” Nolan mutters and Matilda whirls to glower at him.
“That’s still a lot, Nolan!” she cries. “Especially when they’re full of bad guys to fight.”
