Coming Soon: The Lay of Dunstan

I am currently putting the finishing touches on an illustrated poem about St. Dunstan, the Anglo-Saxon Archbishop of Canterbury from 959 to 988.

As we see here.

The above is the in-progress image of Dunstan himself, with the idea that the finished product is going to look like an old illustrated manuscript.

Ultimately inspired by the LegendFiction community’s Saints & Sagas anthology, I wrote a poem about Dunstan trying to emulate what would have been roughly contemporary Old English alliterative verse – i.e. the same style Beowulf was written in.

[Incidentally, the completed Saints & Sagas anthology is now available for purchase.]

It was admittedly a bad fit for the anthology, but too cool not to move forward with somehow. Hence, I’ll be putting it out as what will likely be the first actual publication under the Emona Literary Services™ name.

Now, since I’ll be on vacation for a week in the middle of August, expect more concrete news about when, where, and how I’ll be selling copies of the poem. I’m going to be prioritising digital copies, but I will eventually set up to be selling and shipping physical copies.

Stay tuned.

St. Dunstan, pray for us.
