I changed things up a little during my June Daily Writing exercise, but since it’s the first Friday of July, I’m back to posting a subscriber-exclusive Realmgard Short scene over on my Patreon page.
This week, Kat is doing some training with Captain Ratsumies.
“Whelp,” Captain Ratsumies says gravely. “What was that? Because no-one in this or any age, on this or any world, would call that a cross-country run!”
“What the heck?” Kat pants, sweaty and doubled-over from the exertion of what she’s pretty certain was, indeed, a cross-country run.
And it was a big country…
“I thought we were friends. Why are you yelling at me?”
The Captain’s face softens little.
“Ah, yes, I do apologise for my change in demeanour,” he explains. “M’lady made it quite clear that I am to whip you…”
“Whip?” Kat repeats, backing away slowly.
“…into tip-top shape.”
