Spear-Woman Saturdays: A Long, Thirsty Walk

Over on Substack, I’ve posted another scene from my Spear-Woman Sword & Sorcery World.

The desert sun beats down upon the Spear-Woman and then warrior from the North, cruel and relentless as the martial might of the enemy that scattered the army of Mizrak Pasha. The two face a long, thirsty walk across the trackless sands back to Kadim Tash. And it may be that neither will survive to see that long walk’s end.

This part of the deserts East of the Sea is empty. But Bayan knows that Mizrak Pasha’s campaign brought them east, and so they must go west to find Kadim Tash, or at least the more hospitable lands nearer to the coast. She has travelled enough to navigate by the stars.

It will easier when the night finally comes. If she can keep up her strength until the cruel sun sets. If she will not be driven mad by her companion first.

Also, it’s probably a good time to remind you about the Sword & Sorcery giveaway I’m involved in – which I’m realising I never actually posted about on this blog…
