Following up on my previous post about presenting my RPG character seminar “What’s Your Story, Stranger?” at LegendHaven 2025, I’m pleased to announced that I will be giving my first in-person version of the same seminar at the Emerald Plaza branch of the Ottawa Public Library on October 1.
My blurb, to get the hype train out of the station
Like many Fantasy adventures, we begin in a tavern. Put yourself in the mindset of an adventurer and as you settle down with your drink, reflect on the moments and history that brought you here.
Based on his experience as an author, RPG player, and GM, Joel Balkovec [hey, that’s me!] guides participants through an interactive workshop that will turn a basic character concept into a fleshed-out individual with a full history, backstory, and personality.
By the time you leave the tavern tonight, you’ll be fully equipped with an ideal character.
If you happen to be in Ottawa and want to learn how to write a more interesting D&D character, please check it out.
