The exterior of an old tavern.

Patreon-Exclusive Realmgard Short Scene: “What’s Your Story, Strangers?”

For context: I previously mentioned that I’d be presenting my RPG character writing seminar, “What’s Your Story, Stranger?” — Lessons for Writing a Better RPG character at this year’s LegendHaven.

The basic concept of that seminar is that the attendees are Fantasy adventurers entering a tavern and the various actual lessons of the seminar are kicked off by the barmaid asking “What’s your story, stranger?”.

For further context, the Lyte Brigade is climbing a mountainentering a tavern because they’re travelling to the hometown of Amara’s cousin Egeria to help her with an urgent potato shipment.

“So, what’s your story, strangers?” Sophie asks as she sets the meat pies on the table. “Oh, lemme guess!”

Her gaze falls on Nolan and Matilda first. The young barmaid thoughtfully touches her finger to her chin.

“Now,” she says, staring and thinking and making Nolan and Matilda really uncomfortable. “I’m thinking newlyweds. Honeymoon, right?”

No!” the horrified Lyte siblings cry.
